If you are an F-1 or OPT job seeker weighing a done-for-you application service, the biggest practical difference between ApplyDone and F1Jobs is the commitment. ApplyDone is month to month. F1Jobs, by its own published pricing, requires six months.
Disclosure: we are ApplyDone, so we have a stake in this. The F1Jobs numbers below are taken from F1Jobs' own page, linked at the bottom.
Short version
- Consider F1Jobs if you are confident you will search for six months and want the higher monthly application volume it lists.
- Consider ApplyDone if you do not know how long your search will last, want to start at $199 and stop whenever you land something, and want a person to review your search free first.
Side-by-side comparison
| ApplyDone | F1Jobs | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | $199 per month | $349 (Starter), $449 (Growth) or $499 (Premium) per month |
| Minimum commitment | None. Month to month, cancel before the next renewal | Six months: $2,094, $2,694 or $2,994 in total |
| Application volume | Target of 20–35 per active search day (about 400–700 a month if met). A target, not a guaranteed minimum | 900, 1,200 or 1,500 applications per month by tier |
| Free first step | Free search review by a person before you pay | Free 30-minute resume and profile audit, no payment information required |
| What your search brief controls | Roles, locations, salary, work authorization, sponsorship needs and exclusions are written down and approved by you before any application goes out | Its published guidance stresses targeting employers that sponsor. Details of its process are not confirmed here |
| Proof of each application | Record of each one: job link, resume version, submission confirmation | Not confirmed here. Ask F1Jobs |
| Refunds | Full refund before work begins (less payment-provider fees we cannot recover). After work begins, generally non-refundable; a fair partial refund may be approved if we materially fail to deliver | Not confirmed here. Check F1Jobs' written terms |
| Commission on salary | None | Not stated in the pricing comparison |
What it costs if your search is shorter than six months
This is simple arithmetic from published prices. ApplyDone assumes the plan stays active each month. F1Jobs uses the published six-month minimum on its Starter tier.
| If you stop after | ApplyDone | F1Jobs Starter (published minimum) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 month | $199 | $2,094 |
| 2 months | $398 | $2,094 |
| 3 months | $597 | $2,094 |
| 6 months | $1,194 | $2,094 |
Under OPT's 90-day unemployment allowance, a search that works out early is a good outcome. Paying for months you no longer need is the cost a minimum term can add.
Where F1Jobs may be the better fit
- It lists a higher monthly volume: 900 to 1,500 applications a month. At its Starter price that is about $0.39 per application, compared with roughly $0.28 to $0.50 for ApplyDone at our target.
- If you are sure you will keep searching for six months, the minimum term is less of a drawback.
- It publishes a lot of free guidance on sponsorship-focused searching, which is useful whichever service you choose.
Where ApplyDone is the better fit
- You are unsure how long you will need help. Month to month means your commitment is one month at a time.
- You want a lower starting cost. $199 for the first month versus a published $2,094 minimum.
- You want a person to read your search before you pay. We tell you before you pay if we cannot support it.
